Evangelism & Outreach

Parish Nurse

Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church's Health Ministry program is supported by the hard work and dedication of the Health Cabinet members. Education is an important facet of the Health Cabinet ministry. One of the ways to achieve this has been through adult forums that are sponsored by the Health Cabinet. Example of past topics are: autism, arthritis, eating disorders, recovery from addictions, the environment and your health, abused and neglected children, and mental health/wellness. Our mission is to do what we can to promote wellness and healing of body, mind and spirit.

Loaves and Fishes

Every fifth Monday of the month Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church takes the responsibility of helping feed between 300 and 500 homeless and needy people at St. Stephen's School. We purchase the food, prepare the meal, serve the meal, and clean up afterwards.

Meals on Wheels

Every nine weeks Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church provides drivers for Meal on Wheels. We deliver meals to those that are shut in and less mobile than ourselves. The time commitment is small and the service is a very valuable, enabling recipients to remain in their homes.

Food Shelf

It is important to keep in mind in our roles as providers and givers to those less fortunate than us, our congregation plays a very important role by bringing in groceries and clothing. Donations for the food shelf at Minnehaha United Methodist Church can be brought to our church on the third Sunday of each month.

Ebenezer Ministry

Lake Nokomis provides volunteers to assist wheelchair and mobility impaired patients at the Ebenezer home to Sunday worship services four times a year. Our youth are vital participants in this program. Every December we try to provide Christmas presents through Ebenezer's Gifts of Love program.

St. Joseph's Children's Home

Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church collects presents and gift certificates for the children at St. Joseph's. These gifts could be Christmas gifts, or used as the need of the children arise.

Prayer Chain

Our congregation has a Prayer Chain that can be used for prayers for immediate needs. For more information, please call the church office. Details about any situation are kept confidential.
